Cost Accountant

Primary Responsibilities:
• Full project life cycle responsibilities including project set-up, revenue recognition,billing, reporting and record keeping for multiple types of Federal government contracts including time & material and fixed price contracts.
• Review and interpret contract/task information such as labor hours, labor categories, bill rates, funding and period of performances to ensure proper set up of task order in the accounting system.
• Prepare monthly invoices for various types of government and commercial contracts; ensuring that billed costs reconcile with project status reports and contract requirements; itemize charges; coordinate invoice specifics with management; retrieve invoice approvals; create and maintain billing files.
• Complete detailed rate variance and final invoice work packages.
• Maintain all contract financial information, monthly invoices and documentation for billing files.
• Complete detailed analysis of bills and reconcile billed/unbilled/revenue amounts on a monthly basis.
• Work with various company departments and managers to trouble shoot and resolve invoicing issues as needed.
• Support the Timesheet Administrator with timesheet requirements, preparation for labor processing, and correcting timesheet administrative issues.
• Lead quarterly and annual preparation of Incurred Cost Submission and support A-133 audit.
Manage contractual modifications to ensure the accuracy of data used
• Maintain the general ledger. Verify the accuracy of charges and correct errors in accounts
• Interact with and provide assistance to internal customers
• Review contracts and make recommendations about revenue recognition issues
Skills
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA candidate preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in a professional services/ government contractor environment with full life cycle project financial responsibilities including:
• Experience resolving revenue recognition issues
• Experience reconciling contract/task information such as labor hours, categories, bill rates, etc.
• Experience with PMC-123 and SF-424 preparation
• Experience with leading or playing a significant leadership role in a A-133 audit
• Experience analyzing data using Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
• Experience analyzing profitability on government projects, including both cost type and fixed price contracts.
• Competency in Excel.
